AnnaSophia Robb will voice Periwinkle in the animated film Tinker Bell and the Mysterious Winter Woods which will be released in Christmas 2012.

Tinker Bell and the Mysterious Winter Woods is an upcoming 2012 computer animated film based on the Disney Fairies franchise, produced by DisneyToon Studios.

It was first announced as the fourth movie in the series, but its release date was changed from Winter 2011 to Christmas 2012, after Tinker Bell and the Pixie Hollow Games.

It revolves around Tinker Bell, a fairy character created by J. M. Barrie in his play, Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, and featured in subsequent adaptations, especially in animated works by the Walt Disney Company.

Tinker Bell and the Mysterious Winter Woods film will be produced using Digital 3D modeling. Starring the voices of Mae Whitman, Lucy Liu, Kristin Chenoweth, Raven-Symoné, Jesse McCartney and Angela Bartys, it also features new cast members who include Matt Lanter, Timothy Dalton and AnnaSophia Robb.

USA Purchases 9/11 Drama The Space Between Starring Melissa Leo. USA announced it has purchased the rights to The Space Between written and directed by Travis Fine stars Melissa Leo (The Fighter).

The film stars Leo as a flight attendant "who forms a bond with a 10-year-old Pakistani-American boy traveling by himself on 9/11." The supporting cast includes, AnnaSophia Robb, Phillip Rhys, Anthony Keyvan and Brad William Henke.

This marks the first festival acquisition for USA. The movie premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The Space Between will air on Sept. 11, 2011, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks. The movie looks good and I am glad that it will be aired. It is a shame that it will not make it to the big screen. I am guessing that USA will likely release the film in DVD/Blu-ray.

Opal is the girl who finds her best friend in a dog called Winn-Dixie. Violet Beauregard is a bratty girl turned blueberry. Leslie Burke is the rejected new girl. Tara is an 11-year-old girl abandoned by her mother. Though these characters differ greatly from each other, they do have something in common—the actress, who portrays them, freshman AnnaSophia Robb .

Last May, word spread quickly that Robb was looking at schools in our area to attend for high school. Once it got out that she was to attend Arapahoe High School, Robb’s name was on everyone’s lips.

“We looked around at a lot of schools,” Robb said. “A bunch of my friends were going here everyone loved the school, and it was the only school that would work with my schedule.”

Robb also liked Arapahoe because of the use of homework blogs and e-mail to keep in touch with teachers—a necessity because of the frequent absences necessary for her career.

“The teachers were extremely flexible when I was out of town,” Robb said. “Kids are really good. I always try to look at the good and let the negative roll off.”

During the first week Robb noticed the whispers, saw the stares and tried to ignore the camera phones in action.

“People don’t think I know when they are talking about me, but I do,” Robb said. “I hoped it wouldn’t last long and it didn’t.”
Like every other freshman, Robb dealt with adjusting to high school and finding her place.

“It was difficult adjusting to school and finding out socially where you belong,” Robb said. “[But I found that the students] are down-to-earth. There aren’t cliques or fights. I’ve enjoyed everyone in my classes. There is a family. Everyone is accepted.”

But recently the buzz has started up again because Robb’s newest movie, a Disney production, “Race to Witch Mountain,” is going to be released on March 13, 2009. In the film Robb plays an alien escaping from the government. Her alien brother in the film is played by actor Alexander Ludwig and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the cab driver who helps save them.

Robb began acting when she was eight. She got an agent and took classes. After numerous auditions, she finally landed her first role in a McDonald’s commercial.
“It was the most exciting thing ever that I got a commercial,” Robb said.

Since, Robb has been in nine major films including “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Because of Winn-Dixie” and “Sleep Walking.”

“I love acting,” Robb said. “Being able to meet new people and travel all over the world and sharing my stories with them brings a new perspective on life.”

For most of Robb’s films it takes about three months to complete; but it took six months for “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” because of how elaborate the film was. For an independent film like “Sleep Walking” it only took a month. Robb said that making every part of a film can take a lot longer than just filming it. Before they begin filming there needs to be an idea, than a script, than a director or producer who wants to take on the project. Then they can start the film process. “Bridge to Terabitha” was 20 years in the works before it was filmed. Because of the time commitment Robb missed a lot of middle school.

While Robb is working on a production, she still has school every day. She has a tutor who teaches her on set when she’s not filming. During the filming of “Race to Witch Mountain,” Robb and her co-star Ludwig had class together and shared each other’s tutors. Ludwig, like Robb, attends a public school when not acting.
“I wanted to be able to have that high school experience,” Robb said. “I try to maintain a normal life and have friends.”

Robb does live a normal life when she is in Colorado; it’s just a little more hectic than the average high school student’s life.

Robb said she has very little free time. She takes a full course load with honors classes and only two off hours. Robb also participated in cross country at the beginning of the year. A lot of Robb’s free time is devoted to her career.

“I get overwhelmed by high school sometimes,” Robb said. “But I just take every day one step at a time.”

Every Monday she and her parents have a meeting with her agents to look at movies and business together. Robb said she doesn’t have to audition much anymore because directors ask for her to be in a movie. Her agents find a script and Robb looks over it, which takes about two hours. Then she meets the director and hears the director’s vision for the film and she decides if she wants to do it.
Robb was born in Colorado and likes having the separation between life in Los Angeles and life in Centennial.

“Living in Colorado grounds me, it makes me keep perspective,” Robb said. “[When I fly to L.A.] all my problems in Colorado disappear and I start to think about work. I change positions. I only think about working stuff, and all of my stuff at school seems so small [and vice versa].”

For fun Robb goes to the movies with friends, shops, snowboards and reads.
“When [people recognize me] in public it is more uncomfortable for my friends than me,” Robb said. “I want to embrace my fans. My friends know me as AnnaSophia.”

Robb has also taken an interest in helping people in the world. Over the summer Robb went to India to see the Dalits, The Dalits are the name of the people who are in the lowest caste in the caste system. In India they are told that they are below human and are treated poorly.

“It was weird to see how little they have and how much we have to give them,” Robb said.

Robb plans on to continue to work with the Dalit Freedom Network, a group that is trying to abolish the caste system in India. Robb wants to raise money to build schools and hopes to get the school involved.

Few rumors have been spread about Robb, to her relief. But she did debunk a few. For example, Robb is allowed to try out for AHS theatre productions. She can act without getting paid.

“I love theatre and I believe it is a more difficult type of acting,” Robb said. “I won’t try out because of time, and it’s not fair commitment wise.”

Robb has to leave Colorado a lot and sometimes unexpectedly, so she doesn’t want to leave the production hanging because of that.

Other Rumors that have been floating around the school are Robb was not mobbed by paparazzi on Halloween; she had a normal one with her friends. She didn’t attend one of the Homecoming assemblies because she was at a family member’s wedding, not because she wasn’t allowed to. And Robb has a Facebook page, but it’s under a fake name. The one everyone is friends with is not really her.

Through acting Robb has been able to travel the world, work with Hollywood stars, record a song and attend premieres.

Robb has worked with stars such as Johnny Depp, Charlize Theron, Dave Matthews, Tim Burton, Mia Farrow, Hilary Swank, The Rock and Jeff Daniels.

Robb said that Johnny Depp is a really nice but quiet person. She also said that Tim Burton is a good director to work with. When he is mad, he just paces.

“Some people are scared of me, but I really am a nice person,” Robb said. “I am not going to bite them. I’m not more important than anyone else.”

Soul Surfer has filmed on Oahu for a little over a month, with AnnaSophia Robb cast as Bethany. The role of her best friend, Alana Blanchard, is played in the movie by Lorraine Nicholson, daughter of Jack Nicholson.

The film, directed by Sean McNamara, has based its production out of Oahu’s Turtle Bay Resort, which you may remember from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

In addition to Oahu, some filming, mostly establishing shots, was done on Kauai. Robb, Nicholson and Jeremy Sumpter (who plays Byron Blanchard, the brother of Nicholson’s character in the film) traveled there with the director and a skeleton crew to shoot at three North Shore locations: Tunnels Beach, the beginning of the Kalalau Trail (the Hanakapi‘ai Trail) and the Hanalei Pier. The slideshow below will let you visit those three beautiful Kauai locations, all from the comfort of your computer screen. Enjoy!

Bethany’s father, Tom Hamilton, met up with the film’s production at the Hanalei Pier stop. In an interview with The Garden Island newspaper, he offered:

” I got to see a preview of the movie. The director is a surfer and is really working toward realism. The portion that I saw was so good it almost made me cry.”

The Soul Surfer production returned for another 10 days filming on Oahu, and it is expected to wrap today (March 14, 2010). The film is expected to be released sometime in 2011.

Heart of a Soul Surfer: The Bethany Hamilton Story
Heart of a Soul Surfer offers a personal perspective into the true story and life of Bethany Hamilton, a promising young surfer who discovers her purpose in life as she overcomes the loss of her arm to a 14-ft tiger shark off the coast of Kauai, Hawaii on October 31, 2003.

LONG DESCRIPTION:

Bethany Hamilton, the young teenage girl who made headlines for swiftly resuming her amateur surfing career after losing an arm in a 2003 shark attack in the waters off Hawaii, shares her story to hundreds of teens.

The Christian teen was just 13 years old when the 14-foot tiger shark attacked her just over three years ago on the North Shore of Kauai. The shark also took a 16-inch bite out of her surfboard.

Bethany new documentary, "Heart of a Soul Surfer," which is being released by Walking on Water, a Christian surf company based in San Diego, chronicles how Bethany refused to walk away from the ocean sport, despite the amputation of her left arm. Instead, the incident compelled Bethany to reach inside herself to discover her purpose in life. Emboldened by her faith, Bethany was back on her board just three weeks later.

"The main focus (of the film) is the shark attack and how God has used that as a platform to give her an opportunity to share the gospel," said Mike Doyle, director of outreach for Walking on Water.

The young surfer's determined story captured attention nationwide, resulting in media appearances on Oprah, the Today Show and a variety of other shows. She also wrote the bestselling biography, "Heart of a Soul Surfer," which was released in 2004.

According to the producers, the film captures her transformation and digs deep into the heart of Bethany's abiding faith in God, tackling difficult questions such as 'Why does God allow bad things to happen in our lives?'

Doyle said he believes surfing—with its thunderous waves—is a perfect metaphor for the Christian lifestyle.

"There is something spiritual about surfing, something that draws you," he said.

Actual footage
The film's producers included exclusive surf and family footage of Bethany before and after the attack, including her first attempts at surfing with one arm. Many of the frames where shot by Becky Baumgartner, the girlfriend of Bethany's brother Noah. Also on film is Bethany's win at the 2005 NSSA National Surfing Championship, just 19 months after the attack. Walking on Water founder Bryan Jennings, a professional surfer, served as co-producer of the documentary.

"Heart of a Soul Surfer is a powerful story told from the heart of a young woman with great passion and dedication to God," the film's promo material said.

Doyle said Bethany, who plans to turn professional this year, is coming into her own at a time when women are entering the sport in droves. Doyle attributes the influx to the 2002 secular film "Blue Crush,"—which chronicled three girls surfing on Hawaii's North Shore and earned more than $40 million at the box office—as one of the driving forces behind the increased popularity of surfing among girls. He said new clothing lines for women, including the mega-seller, Roxy, have also played a role.

"There is an explosion of female surfers now," he said. "It lit a fire under a lot of girls."

Variety reports that Melissa Leo, AnnaSophia Robb and Brad William Henke are going to star in The Space Between. The low budget film went into production in LA.

Travis Fine, who who moonlights as an airline pilot, wrote and is directing The Space Between film. The Space Between is the "story of an unaccompanied minor flying on 9/11 and the flight attendant who tries to reunite him with his father who works in the World Trade Center."

The Space Between film is also going to be shot in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

Adventurous!! Andy Fickman is a good filmmaker... I really liked 'The Game Plan' and I enjoyed 'Race To Witch Mountain' as well. Author Alexander Key's 1968 novel Escape to Witch Mountain sure must have been a rage at that time. I haven't seen the 1975 version, but I must say, I repeat, this one's a quite good flick.

Don't think of watching an EPIC when you tune in 'Race To Witch Mountain', this film promises to entertain, and it does! A catchy script, with good execution doesn't disappoint the viewer!

Another reason I enjoyed the flick is because, it stars my all-time favorite Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, who's the ultimate Rockstar and a WWE Legend.

I summing up the review, Get this straight: 'Race To Witch Mountain' is escapist at very best. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's energy is enough to keep the interest alive! Two Thumbs Up!

One of these days I saw the trailer of "Have Dreams, Will Travel" and I liked it so much that I bought the DVD. I have just watched this sweet and touching road movie and I really loved the story, the screenplay, the performances and the direction. I do not know whether it is intentional or not, but there are many scenes of the camera against the light creating dark images that I did not like. AnnaSophia Robb is amazing, with another awesome performance in a complex role. Cayden Boyd is also fantastic in the difficult role of Ben. Val Kilmer has a minor participation, but I believe this is his best interpretation and role in the last years. The secret of Cassie is a heartbreaking moment in the plot and the conclusion is very beautiful.
